How to consume almonds?
Now the question is in what form to consume almonds? Whether to have them raw, roasted, blanched or to take them as supplements? Many suggest to have them the way you wanted. But the right way to consume them is to soak them in water for 12 hours and then consume them after that. The reason behind soaking is that almonds contain phytic acid which helps in their defense mechanism against predators that stop them from growing. This acid prevents easy digestion of nuts because of which you get to see some bits of nuts in your stool when you consume them raw.
Soaking helps to get rid of this acid, enabling easy digestion and good absorption of vitamins and other nutrients in almonds. Adding a little salt while soaking helps in neutralizing enzymes and also remove dust on almonds.
Note: Please don't re-use the water residue left after soaking almonds for any cooking purpose. This has all the harmful substances. Moreover, wash almonds before consuming them once they are taken out of water.
